2026 Bee School

Discover the essentials of beginner beekeeping!  The FCBA Bee School is designed to provide you with the knowledge & skills you will need to become a beginner beekeeper through presentations, demonstrations, mentors, class instruction and practical experience.

Classes are a combination of in-person sessions & self-directed, asynchronous online learning through Google Classroom. In-person classes include Q&A with Instructors, Hands-On activities, & bonus teachings.  The course will be instructed by experienced Beekeepers from our Association.  No books are required for class but purchase of The Beekeeper's Handbook is highly recommended & serves as a good reference guide.  You can purchase it HERE on Amazon.

Topics covered include:

  • Introduction, History, Tutorial for Google Classroom
  • Honey Bee Biology & Bee Stings; Examining Colonies & Seasonal Management
  • Products of the Hive; Keeping Bees in Residential Areas; Diseases, Predators, & Pests
  • Choices Day: a guide to purchasing Hives & Equipment
  • Hands-on Bee Yard Days
  • Opportunity to take the state exam to become a Certified Beekeeper

A meeting link for the online portion of classes will be provided by 2/11/26.

FCBA does not recommend buying equipment before completion of the class.

Cost: $75 plus an additional $15 for required annual FCBA membership*

*If you are already a member, you only need to pay for Bee School*

This is non-refundable. Benefits of the course include access to a personal mentor and one year access to online digital material, including slide decks & class recordings.  These funds help the association's mission to promote good beekeeping practices and continuing education for beekeepers & the public.

Registration is open through 2/11/2026.  Seating is limited.  A waitlist will be formed if the class fills.

We look forward to seeing you at this years' Bee School!
