Brandon's journey in beekeeping spans over two decades, during which he has cultivated a deep understanding of the intricate dynamics within a hive. As the owner of Foothills Farm & Apiary, he oversees a multifaceted breeding program that combines traditional methods with modern techniques. With a commitment to sustainable and chemical-free practices, Brandon's program focuses on enhancing honeybee genetics through artificial insemination and selective breeding.

Under his leadership, Foothills Farm & Apiary (https://foothillsfarmnc.com/) has been at the forefront of honeybee breeding for seven years. The breeding program employs a comprehensive and innovative approach, incorporating artificial insemination to precisely control genetic selection. This meticulous method allows for the propagation of desirable traits, such as disease resistance, hygienic behavior, and overall colony health.

Brandon's dedication extends beyond the apiary; he is actively engaged in research aimed at understanding genetic factors influencing honey bee traits. His commitment to sustainable agriculture is evident in the program's multifaceted approach, which includes expanding breeding operations, ongoing genetic research, and educational outreach.

With a vision for a resilient and sustainable future for honeybee populations, Brandon Simmons continues to be a driving force in the field of beekeeping. Through Foothills Farm & Apiary, he seeks to not only enhance honey bee genetics but also to educate and inspire a community of beekeepers dedicated to sustainable practices.
