November FCBA Meeting

with

Russell Tyson

This presentation covers the principles, benefits and different popular methods of raising your own queens in common sense terms so beekeepers can choose what works best for them.  Russell will cover using a Cloake board to start and finish queen cells, mating, distribution, and how desirable queens can be raised with minimum resources.  This promises to be an interactive evening with audience participation.  Click here to sign up for dinner!

Russell, now 82 years young, started his journey as a beekeeper in 2014 and achieved his NCSBA Journeyman certification.  In 2020 he began raising his own queens.  Since that time, he has experimented with many different methods of queen rearing.  Along with his beekeeping partner Steve Ebert, they manage Sun Meadows Apiaries. Russell & Steve have apiaries in Archdale, Walnut Cove and Sparta, NC.
