Dr. Buddy Marterre is a Past President of the Forsyth County Beekeepers Association. He has held multiple leadership positions within the North Carolina Beekeepers Association(NCSBA). Dr. Buddy is the lead author & instigator of Certified Naturally Grown’s Natural Beekeeping Standards. He has taught bee school to over 1,000 students since developing the FCBA curriculum as the FCBA Bee School Chairman from 2004 to 2016.  He has also published in Bee Culture & American Bee Journal & is both an NCSBA Master Beekeeper & an EAS Master Beekeeper. Dr. Buddy kept bees from 2003 to 2022; he had as many as 16 colonies, and always reared his own queens. In addition to his MD, he holds a Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University. He has two wonderful dogs, keeps 6 semi-aquatic turtles, enjoys Tai Chi, woodworking, nature photography, bicycling, sailing, traveling & practicing surgical palliative care, and now... pickleball!

Jeremy Tyson lives on a farm near Wentworth in Rockingham County and started beekeeping 15 years ago.  He currently has 52 hives with queen rearing as his main interest.

Dwight Moore is our current FCBA president.  He became interested in bees in 2009 when a colony of bees moved into his home’s dormer. He then attended Bee school under Dr. Buddy Marterre in January 2012 and passed his Journeyman exam in May 2021.  He was born in Western KY & grew up as a son of a coal miner.  In 2021 he retired from Duke Energy as an Account Executive. He has been married to the love of his life for 38 years.  They live on a little over 8 acres just out of Kernersville where we attend Triad Baptist Church.
