Linden Tree Sale at Heritage Oak Farms - One of our members can get a limited number of American Linden trees for us, and we are passing along the opportunity to purchase them them at cost.  The American Linden (tilia americana) tree, also known as basswood, has small, pale yellow, fragrant flowers in clusters, and blooms in midsummer, roughly when sourwood blooms.

"Basswood honey is white and has a slightly aromatic flavor ... [and] when sealed and fully ripened in the hive it is considered one of the best table honeys," according to John H. Lovell's Honey Plants of North America.  He states that "hot, clear weather and a humid atmosphere are most favorable for the secretion of nectar.  Small drops may then be seen sparkling in the bloom; and the bee may obtain a load from a single blossom."

These trees are available only to FCBA members.  You must become a member if you are not one already.

1.  Please register for the number of trees you would like.  The price is $15 apieceRegistration/ordering closes Wed, August 12, 2020.

3.  The pick-up location is Heritage Oak Farms in Winston-Salem.

4.  The exact pick-up date in Sept is TBD, since the trees must be ready for fall planting.  The tentative date is Sat, Sept 26.  An email will be sent out when the pick-up date has been determined.
